an old picture wins big….

just found out that the image here snapped by old friend Chris Fawkes has won a major prize in the USA:
Grand Prize award for Children’s Portraiture from the WPPI -

you can read another photographer’s review here.

this was back in the mid 90’s when i was photographing and managing Chris’s studio in Geelong, we grabbed our alltime two favourite child models i had photographed and their mums and took them down to the queenscliffe steam trains, on a day when they weren’t running- and we hired the clothes & a smoke machine for the effect.
it was hard shoot and Chris and i took it in turns behind the camera. the moment Chris was able to snap this shot i was actually down between the trains with the smoke machine pumping it out! i think the little guy was talking to me and the little girl had had enough and was walking off to her mum behind chris.
-snap- classic shot.

Awesome Chris- congrats! {and he won a Canon 5D & a lens!! man!}
